JIMMY slater

coach

Originally from Durham in England, Jimmy played his junior and senior football in the North Eastern England/Country Durham leagues, before moving to the Sunshine Coast 11 years ago and becoming involved as an over 35s player with Buderim Wanderers. He then began coaching the junior girls at Buderim along with Stuart Collins and they began building female football at Buderim Wanderers. Jimmy then stepped up to coaching the senior womens first team 2 years ago, with the team having great success last year with Buderim having its most successful season ever by being crowned the Open Women Sunshine Coast League grand final winners, Woombye Cup winners, and Elaine Watson Cup runners up. Jimmy was also given the prestigious honour of being named the Sunshine Coast Federations coach of the year for female football for the second year running. Jimmy has recently completed his FFA C licence for Penninsula Power

stuart collins

assistant coach

Stuart Collins played his junior football in Bundaberg representing Wide Bay from U12s to 16s and was selected for the Qld team from 1990 to 1992, including selection in a talent identification squad that toured Germany.

He was offered trials with Aston Villa in England but returned home and played in the National Youth League in the inaugural year of the QAS. For over a decade he played semi-professionally for Mt Gravatt Hawks, Taringa Rovers and North Star winning a number of premierships and cups finals. As a result of work relocation he has also played in the top leagues in Perth, Sydney and Canberra providing a diverse footballing experience. He has also been heavily involved in coaching and was first mentored by Alan Niven (former Socceroo). Since returning to Buderim Wanderers he has been the miniroos co-ordinator, junior DoC and the club’s first female director of coaching. He has also assisted Sunshine Coast Football with its representative and development program and has been a strong advocate for the growth and creation of opportunities for female footballers. In 2018 Stuart will coach the U17 Girls in the NPLW while continuing to pursue further coaching development having just completed his FFA/AFC youth ‘C’ licence (pending assessment).
